Are sanctions the right instrument for dealing with the current East-West Crisis? Sanctions have been imposed by the EU on Ukrainian and Russian officials for their part in violence against demonstrators in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. This seminar is organised by the International Foundation for Better Governance.
Further Magnitsky style sanctions have also been called for by the European Parliament against Russian officials and businessmen. We invite EU experts, business leaders, civil society leaders, media and representatives of non-government organisations to analyse the situation and comment on the impact on business. Do sanctions work? Can business cope with these regulations, or do they effectively shut down trade and investment?
